Charles Martin Chavez

March 17, 1949 - February 11, 2022

Charles, affectionately known as Buelo, died on February 11 after an extended illness. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Barbara, his daughters Mercedes Von Pichl and Wendy Chavez, as well as two grandsons and two granddaughters.

Charles lived his entire life in the Denver area. He was a visual artist first and foremost. Besides painting, he loved his family, hiking, biking, and traveling. He made his long awaited trip to Italy with Barbara in 2014, and had a wonderful time.

Unknown to many, Charles was diagnosed with AIDS in 2013. He fought a valiant fight against the disease and lived to see his youngest grandchild born and enjoy three years with her.
