Kathryn Haight
December 18, 1949 - January 23, 2022
Loving, elegant, with a genuine intellect and subtle wit, Kathryn Haight was a beloved and beautiful woman. On January 23, 2022, she left this world in the same way she lived her life: with style, grace and dignity.
Born December 18, 1949 to Ludwig and Lucille Haight of Burley, Idaho, Kathryn was the third of five children. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Idaho, MPA from the University of Colorado and law degree from the University of Denver.
In her long career Kathryn held a variety of positions with the offices of the Denver District Attorney, Governor of the State of Colorado, and United States Attorney. She served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney and later entered private practice, where she worked as consulting, trial and appellate counsel on a variety of matters. Her colleagues describe her as loyal, pleasant in all weather and calm under fire. She was persuasive and tenacious but never caustic. An excellent thinker and writer, she happily tutored younger attorneys.
Kathryn enjoyed exploring the globe in search of beauty in art, cultures, food and nature. She will be remembered as a loyal sister, friend and aunt with a sense of humor and a huge heart. She was always there to love and guide her nieces, nephew and the children of her dearest friends. While proud of her many accomplishments, Kathryn was a woman of great humility and a fiery crusader for democracy, racial justice and equity for women.
Kathryn was predeceased by her parents and brother James Haight. She leaves behind her siblings John Haight (Mary), Christine Haight Johnson (Dale), and Marjorie Haight; sister-in-law Pamela Nordaune; nieces Sally Johnson, Tina Johnson, Katherine Johnson, Alice Johnson and Sarah Haight; nephew Ryan Haight and grandniece Penelope Johnson-Walker, along with many friends whom she considered family.
