Marilyn Ashley Mason
Marilyn Mason, aged 79, passed away in Englewood, Colorado on March 6, 2022. Marilyn was a beloved mother, sister, daughter, and friend. Born in Carbondale, IL, she was raised, and lived most of her life, in North Central Florida. She spent 30 years working as a public servant at the Alachua County Clerk of the Court in Gainesville, Florida. She was a long-time member of Keystone Heights Presbyterian Church and a volunteer at the Lake Area Ministries Food Pantry.
Marilyn was courageous and kind. She could always be counted on to bring a creative and witty presence to any gathering. She was a keen observer of life who was filled with catchy and wise sayings. She also excelled at the fine art of piddling. She cared deeply and always had a special way of showing up for others throughout her life – a newsy letter, a telephone call, a “pop call” showing up with baked goods, a silly gift she had made, or a bouquet of flowers “just because”. An activist in her own right, she had a deep sense of fairness and justice. She frequently supported local causes and although she could be shy, she wasn’t afraid to voice her opinion if the situation called for it. She was a beautiful human being and an inspiration to all who knew and loved her. She will be profoundly missed. She is survived by her daughter Mondi Mason, twin sister Carolyn Holsapple, and nephews Michael and Quest Groton, and Zain Grey.
“Here’s to Marilyn, those like her are damn few!”
