Kelly Nunes

February 3, 1972 - October 16, 2022

On Sunday, October 16, 2022, Kelly R. (Aguilar) Nunes, daughter, mother, grandmother and dear friend passed away at age 50 from autoimmune hepatitis. Kelly was born on February 3, 1972 in Rawlins, Wyoming.

Kelly is survived by her parents, Georgeanne Jane (Franks) Jacobsen and Jay Jacobsen; her children: Abbi Rae Poyner (Logan Poyner) and Alysa Nunes. Grandchildren: Emma Rose and Henry Jay. Sibling: Ava Kennedy (Joe Kennedy). Nieces: Nicole Harrell, and Tamra Whittaker (Robert Whittaker).

Kelly married shortly after high school and later divorced. She raised her two girls (Abbi and Alysa) with the loving help of family and friends. The love she had for her family was the driving force of her life. Kelly joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was dedicated to serving and loving people in her community. She found love and support from her many ward members in the different places she lived.

Kelly lived a genuine life. She knew what she believed in and held these beliefs with great confidence. She was also supportive how others lived and believed. As long as people were “nice” and “not mean,” Kelly was there to support them.

Kelly was unapologetic in the love she showed for others. There was no mistake about who and what was important to her. Kelly valiantly loved and protected these treasured people.

Home was an important place for Kelly. She always made her home a loving space for friends and family. She took great pride in the many DIY projects she started. In Kelly’s home there was always a new project going on, something good to eat, stories to tell, tears to share, lively laughter, and of course- plenty of curse words.

Despite years of frustrating health issues, Kelly remained determined to live life to its fullest and fiercely independent. She found joy and peace traveling throughout the country seeking out the next beautiful spot to see. She and her Subaru became quite resourceful and skilled in these spectacular road trip adventures!

2 Timothy 4:7 “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.”

Kelly’s family sends their deepest gratitude for the many friends, neighbors, ward members, co-workers, and professionals who have given Kelly their boundless care and support over the years.
