Samuel Preston Lombardo

July 3, 1948 - February 1, 2023

Samuel Preston Lombardo, father of five children, passed away on February 1, 2023, at the age of 74.

Sam was born in Omaha, Nebraska to Frances and Joseph. Sam was the oldest of 5 children.

During his lifetime, Sam was an avid taveler and explorer. For a while, Sam turned his love of traveling into his career. He owned his own travel agency, worked for various airlines as a gate agent, and worked at Frontier airlines in their HR department. Sam would always share stories of how he would hop on flights with his fellow gate-agents at the spur of the moment to see the states, sites, and world. Working at Frontier allowed him to travel anywhere on standby and shared that benefit with the people he loved. Sam also had a dream of visiting and exploring all 50 states. In his fun loving, dad joking way, Sam always said he would die happy if he saw all 50 states, and if he never saw North Dakota he would never die. North Dakota and Idaho were the last states on his list.

Besides traveling, Sam loved salt-water aquatics and all animals. In every home he had, Sam always had a large salt-water aquarium full of brightly colored fish and corral. He enjoyed spending his time watching and taking care of the fish. When he moved down to Colorado Springs for retirement he adopted a sweet, loving husky from a shelter.

Friends, family, and coworkers would describe Sam as caring, empathetic, helpful, thoughtful, and understanding. He always cared and stood up for those around him and lived his life in a way that made the world a better place.

Sam is proceeded in death by his parents Frances and Joseph Lombardo. Sam is survived by his five children Jennifer Westfall-Inman, Sabrina Westfall, Lillyann Karsh-Lombardo, Emerson Karsh-Lombardo and Eli Karsh-Lombardo; his brothers Jim Lombardo and Rick (Tammy) Lombardo; his sisters Gina (Rob) Grimm and Jodi (Terry) Smith; and grandchildren Gavin, Alexandria, and Runa.
