Janet Postma Bugg

February 11, 1947 - March 24, 2023

Janet Postma Bugg was born February 11, 1947 and left this life on March 24, 2023. She was born to Lowell Postma and Billie Coleman Postma in Parsons, Kansas.  Janet and her older brother, Byron, lost their mom Billie when they were very young.  Upon their dad’s remarriage to Orena Hancock, Janet and her brother were blessed to have a wonderful new mom. Janet grew up in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and graduated from Sandia High School in 1965. She went on to get her bachelor’s degree in education from UNM in 1969. She married Bruce Farnham in 1968 and taught elementary school for a year in Las Cruces. Janet then went on to get her master’s degree in education from the University of Arizona in 1972 and gave birth to her first son, Owen, in 1971 in Tucson, Arizona. The family returned to Albuquerque, and in 1974 her daughter Alison was born.

In 1980, the family moved to Denver, Colorado. Soon after, Janet took a position as an academic advisor with the University of Colorado in Denver, where she went on to work for 30 years. In 1982, Leslie, the couple’s third child, was born.  Janet and Bruce divorced in 1988, and Janet married Gary N. Bugg in 1991 at their home in Thornton, Colorado. The couple resided in Thornton until Gary passed away in 2021.

Janet enjoyed fishing, camping in her RV, cooking, and reading. She was a wonderful mother, sister, and wife, and she was an avid dog lover. Janet was such a dog lover that she volunteered for a greyhound rescue organization for many years. She is survived by her three children: Alison Farnham, Leslie Farnham, and Owen Farnham and by her grandchildren: Alejandra De La Cruz-Farnham, Edgar (Eddie) De La Cruz-Farnham, Evelyn De La Cruz-Farnham, Jack Border, Lucia Border, Owen Jr. Farnham, Evan Farnham, Elliott Farnham, Mary Farnham, and Nora Farnham. She is also survived by her brothers, Byron Postma, Richard Postma, and Robert (Bob) Postma and by her sister, Ann Postma.
