Devyn Leah Widdowfield-Hathcock
December 7, 2010 - October 6, 2023
Devyn lost her battle for life on October 6, 2023. Devyn battled Acute Meyloid Leukemia for almost 3 years, had 3 bone marrow transplants and she finally beat Leukemia but after getting several infections and an acute kidney injury over the last several months and battling every one of them, she found one that she could not win against. She met her leukemia head on and fought with all her might, teaching us all what it meant to fight with a true heart.
She was a quiet yet active girl who loved her cat, her brother, nature, animals, unicorns, parks, dresses and pink cowgirl boots. Her determination, spunk and heart touched everyone she came in contact with. Before leukemia she loved going to school mostly to be with her friends, was involved in drama club and cub scouts. Throughout her illness she was able to stay in dance and TaeKwonDo, even earning her black belt last February, awarded NMAA martial artist of the year in July and participating in a dance recital last November.
She is survived by her mother, Jennifer Widdowfield, father, Jon Hathcock, brother, Conall Widdowfield-Hathcock, grandparents, Murph and Verna Widdowfield and Edmund Hathcock, several aunts, uncles and many cousins. Preceded in death by her sister Tegwyn Leah Widdowfield and grandmother Joan Hathcock.
