Carol J. Thomson
January 15, 1948 - November 4, 2023
The beautiful Carol Jane Thomson passed away peacefully on November 4, 2023 in Denver, Colorado. She always marvelled at nature, found sanctuary among the trees and loved the fresh air. Carol was a schoolteacher as a young woman. When her own children were grown, she returned to work as a classroom aide for special needs schoolchildren.
At work and in life, Carol often sought out people who needed help. She especially cared for those that needed special attention. She was always kind, gentle and patient. Throughout her life, she looked after her father John and her brother Jack. She was a devoted daughter and sister.
Carol loved to laugh. She never took things too seriously and there was never a wrong time for a joke. Everyone who knew her knew her vibrant laugh and the way her eyes would wrinkle in the corners and glimmer. Her husband Tom delighted in trying to hear that laugh as often as he could. He could make her laugh like no one else, and she loved him for it.
Carol loved her family, and she made sure they knew it. She endlessly loved and supported her children, Courtney and Sean. She was a genuine, wonderful mother; it was her greatest role. Lacking a large extended family of her own, she became a true daughter to her parents-in-law, Barb and Arnie, and a true sister to Tom's siblings. As Barb and Arnie had done for her, she took her son-in-law Richard and her daughter-in-law Tamara in as her own. She adored and doted on her grandchildren Arwen, Henry, Roux, Alice and Ever as much as she could. The grandkids loved their 'Amma' very much.
Truly, Carol was loved by all who got to know her. The world was a better place with her in it and she will be profoundly missed.
There will be a tree planting ceremony at Evergreen Memorial Park in Evergreen, Colorado in her honour this coming spring.
