Emily Jane Ollerton
May 26, 1996 - February 18, 2024
On February 18th, our beloved Emily Jane decided to leave this world. The pain of this loss is immeasurable, and words continue to fail us as we try to process life without EJ.
Emily was born on May 26th in St. George, Utah. She was an unusually quiet baby, very observant, and already stunning. When she was younger, she loved getting up early and spending time with her mom, and she was a daddy’s girl from the get-go. Emily loved being around family and friends from an early age. She was truly the definition of a social butterfly, to the extent that it often got her in trouble at school.
Anyone who knew EJ, even briefly, knew she was one of the most talented, funny, and intelligent people you could meet. EJ’s sense of humor was off the hook. We don’t know where it came from, but we cherished her raunchy, hysterical look at life. She could talk you into anything, including getting her mom and dad to binge-watch 90 Day Fiancée with her. Her taste in music was also extraordinary, and eclectic, she was into everything and shared music openly. She once made her mom sit down and listen to hours of Cardi B…dance moves included for emphasis. The girl could dance like none other. We love those memories and so many more.
Emily's charm, charisma, and stunning beauty impacted virtually everyone. EJ illuminated anyplace she went. She brought an energy and light that demanded attention when she walked into a room. You just wanted to be around her as much as you could.
EJ was truly a remarkable human when it came to her friends, whom she loved deeply and loyally. Above all, she was the peacemaker in her family, always coming back to the table, always showing unconditional love to her family, and forever a fierce defender of her brother and sister. EJ was a wonderful mama to her four-pawed son, Gus. She loved that boy, and we are reminded daily of that love as we care for him.
We are so proud of her accomplishment in becoming a flight attendant. It was one of the most challenging things she had done in her life. Emily’s family and Gus had her back every step of the way. We knew she could do it; watching her make that dream come true was an honor. She was reaching her dreams of a career, traveling, and finding independence. She loved her Skywest Family in Denver, where she was stationed, and we are grateful for the opportunities they provided. EJ used to tell us how she enjoyed the challenge of working with the passengers who were the most difficult or were having a bad day. We loved hearing her stories, tracking her flights and were awed by the pictures she shared of her adventures.
EJ baby, we love you so much, and there will never be a moment where we will not feel the void you have left or a moment when we don’t deeply agonize over how things should have been different. We are so grateful for the strong relationships you had with each of us, the love you offered, the laughter you left us, and the pride we have for the fight you gave life. We love you forever and ever.
Emily leaves behind her sweet Gus, her mom and dad, brother Levi, sister Samantha Rae (Alex Leota), nephew Theo Jonathan Rae Leota, grandparents (Victoria and Timothy Woodward), uncles, aunts, great uncles and aunts, cousins, and a slew of heartbroken friends.
We want to share resources if you or someone you know is struggling. Please reach out; there is always hope.
