Don Schwartz

December 29, 1952 - May 17, 2024

Don was born and raised in Greeley, Colorado. He attended Greeley Central High School, where he was an avid football player and fan. When not on the field he could be found helping out at his father's shop, Economy Autobody. Early adulthood saw him back-packing with friends, and stepping into full-time work alongside his father and brother's at the family business. While auto-body repair and RV service and sales was the focus of the business, his passion was wood-working. From maketry and refurbishing antique pieces, to making clocks and cabinets, Don was a master with wood. His other passion was his family, especially his grandchildren. He was never too busy to play or just sit down for a chat, and he often said it was them that kept him going through his 10 month battle with leukemia and the ensuing treatments. One of his last statements was that his grand kids were his "crowning achievement," though truly there were many. He will be remembered as a humble friend, a bit of a pool shark, the guy who could fix anything, and the Dad and Grandpa of few, yet wise words, and silly jokes.

His legacy runs on in the many lives he has touched. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Debra Schwartz, his children Travis Schwartz, Jessica Wright, Austin Schwartz and Emily Pantoja. His memory lives on is his 9 grandchildren: Trevor and Isaac Schwartz, Alexis and Jasmine Pantoja, Aiyanna and Nasyah Schwartz, and Kalina, Amara and Athena Wright. Last, but certainly not least, his silliness lives on in his rowdy great-grandson, Liam Schwartz.

A celebration of life will be held according to his wishes for "nothing fancy, just a good time with friends and family sharing stories." Join us on Tuesday, May 28th at 5pm at the American Legion in Windsor, Colorado. Anyone with words to share is welcome to man the mic and honor him.
