Jackie Weller

February 11, 1952 - July 27, 2024

Political activist, feminist, spiritual leader, Jackie was a supportive community member, a listening ear, and a best friend to many.

Those who knew her can attest that she often gave of herself to others more than to herself.

Jackie was a true original. She lived life large, on her own terms, and was a strong, independent woman who loved to sing, play and work hard, and to organize events in and around the Denver area.

Jackie began studying Wicca with her first husband, Chris Mohr, in the 1970s in the Denver area before establishing key structures within the Denver pagan community such as their own coven, Dragonfeign, followed by Dragonfest (which outgrew its original site on the Johnson’s land), the High Plains Church of Wicca, and provided a Beltaine community festival, The Magical Mayfest.

Jackie then created the first Denver Witches Ball which she managed for 23 years starting in 1991. It is still a tradition today, having been passed to a new owner.

Jackie stepped away from coven work, teaching Wicca, paganism, and activism privately, and through seminars, workshops and classes.

Jackie was an extraordinary psychic and tarot reader, always willing to do impromptu readings for her friends, and before retiring,  worked as a reader at “Goddess Isis Books and Gifts” for eight years.

A Canadian by birth, she leaves behind her only sibling, her brother Jerry Weller (wife Pauline Vaughan) as well as nieces Leah Weller (Oliver Romaniuk), Aliza Weller, and Danielle Vaughan Tkach (Todd Tkach) as well as grand nieces Hunter Tkach and Victoria Romaniuk, and grand nephew Ethan Romaniuk.

Jackie, an environmentalist to the end, has chosen water cremation as her final gift to the planet. Her influence and bright presence will be missed by one and all.
