Cindy Heithoff Winsted

Cindy Heithoff Winsted, 71, of Centennial, Colorado, passed away surrounded by family on December 30, 2024, after a most courageous battle with Glioblastoma brain cancer.

Born on January 15, 1953, in Carroll, Iowa, Cindy was the beloved daughter of Floyd and Edna Heithoff. In 1963, her family moved to Atlantic, Iowa, where she spent the rest of her childhood and graduated from Atlantic High School in 1971. She pursued higher education at Iowa State University and Des Moines Area Community College before eventually moving to Denver, Colorado, where she built a vibrant life filled with love and cherished memories.

As a devoted mother, grandmother, and wife, Cindy found her greatest happiness in spending time with her family and friends. She also loved golfing, hiking, and traveling-activities that reflected her vibrant spirit and appreciation for life’s simple pleasures.

Cindy is survived by her husband, John Winsted; her three daughters Liz (Jeff) Steenhoek, Allana (Greg) Lenz, and Ellyn Winsted; and her four treasured grandchildren. Also, by her siblings C.J. (Kim) Heithoff, Cathy (Mike) Baragary, Diane Grunst and Becky (Tony) Zablocki. Known affectionately as “Nunu,” Cindy’s grandchildren will forever remember her as a source of unconditional love, joy, and endless fun.

Cindy’s warmth, kindness, and generosity touched all who knew her. Her family will forever be grateful for the unwavering love and dedication she showed as a mother, grandmother, and wife, and for the incredible memories she created with them and her grandchildren. May her memory bring comfort to those she leaves behind.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to one of Cindy’s favorite charities, Ronald McDonald House.
