Russell Schachterle
December 13, 1983 - April 8, 2021
Russell was born December 13, 1983, in Denver and died April 8, 2021. He attended University Hill Elementary School in Boulder, was home-schooled, and graduated from Shining Mountain Waldorf High School. He attended Bodhi School at the Boulder Shambhala Center and completed Rites of Passage when he was 8 years old. He participated in the Shambhala Mountain Center Sun Camp for three years and completed the 16-year-old Rites of Passage there.
Russell really loved his children and was always doing something with them, he enjoyed taking them to playgrounds. He was an enthusiastic player of the game, Magic Cards. He loved to discuss politics and government and was a fervent Bernie Sanders supporter. He loved music and was a decent bass player. He was fluent in Spanish and had taught English as a second language in Mexico. He liked to cook, mainly vegetarian fare, the spicier, the better! He liked being around people and had a great sense of humor when the mood was right. He was a gentle soul with a great heart. He always tried to do good and to be a better person. He was very intelligent and very sensitive.
He is survived by his children, son Cory (4 years old) and daughter Riley (1 year old), his mother Rosa-lyn Householder and his father, David Schachterle, his stepmother, Carolyn, his stepbrother and stepsisters and their children, his ex-wife, Mariana Smith and her parents, Pati Salgado and Jorge Smith. Please hold Russell in your practice to support him with his passage. We will all miss him so very much.
