Samuel Boone Yeager
July 3, 1997 - April 3, 2021
Samuel Boone Yeager, 23, of Boulder, died on April 3, 2021. He was born July 3, 1997 in Atlanta, the son of Timothy and Whitney (Emory) Yeager. He attended Cherry Creek schools and graduated from Cherry Creek High School in 2016 where he was an athlete and competed for the cross country, track, and wrestling teams. Sam was a lover of languages and studied both Spanish and German in high school and college. He was a member of the German Honor Society and Beta Theta Pi Fraternity. Sam attended Depauw University for two years and was currently enrolled at the University of Colorado in Boulder where he was majoring in political science.
Sam was both interesting and interested; an intrepid explorer, and endlessly curious. He sought out opportunities to meet new people and to learn all about them. Sam was willing to take risks and to put in the work to accomplish his goals. He spent a year in Germany between high school and college, independently navigating his way through academic life and soaking up the culture. Sam was an avid outdoorsman who felt most at home in nature. He spent hours hiking and backcountry skiing in the mountains, and he loved being on the water whenever he had the opportunity. Sam spent two summers as a camp counselor at Taylor Statten Camps in Canada sharing and teaching others the joy of communing with the natural world as he led canoe trips for young campers through Algonquin Park. As a nature lover, Sam developed a fascination with trees and volunteered at an organic farm in Boulder. Even as a young child, Sam found comfort in prayer and as a result grew into a deeply spiritual person.
Sam loved his family. He is survived by his loving and devoted parents, Whitney of Monument and Timothy of Denver; his sisters Haven of Denver and Madeleine of Boulder, whom he adored. He also leaves his maternal grandparents, Donna and Richard Emory of Boynton Beach, Florida and Robin and St. John Webb of Mt. Dora, Florida and his paternal grandparents, Priscilla and Ken Yeager of Columbus, North Carolina. He is survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and family friends, with whom he made a point to connect whenever he could.
