Sarah Suzanne Kubacki

December 18, 1977 - December 18, 2021

Sarah Suzanne Kubacki transitioned off this earth on December 18, 2021. 44 years earlier, Sarah entered this world as suddenly as she left it. She was delivered at home by her father, Stanley, before the paramedics could arrive. Sarah grew up in Detroit and, later, Warren, Michigan, with her parents, Sue and Stan, older sister and two younger brothers, enjoying (or enduring) frequent visits with the cousins, aunts, and uncles, and grandparents on both sides of the family. Sarah Bear, as many of us called her, always brought laughter to each family gathering, often in the form of inappropriately baudy or bodily jokes. Sarah met David working at Consolidated Financial in 2000. They started going to lunches with a mutual friend and then their friend stopped going with them. They quickly became inseparable and soon focused their attention on a puppy named Porter. Their cats, George and KT, joined the family a few years later.

Sarah’s love of animals took her to New Orleans in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, as a volunteer helping to rescue abandoned animals. In New Orleans she met and worked alongside people from Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, who inspired her to focus her veterinary training on animal rescue. She eventually packed her things into a UHaul, enlisted the help of her godfather, Rick, and drove across the country to Kanab, Utah, to work at Best Friends, where she worked in Dog Town, helped strays in Navajo Nation, and studied to become a licensed vet tech.

After a few years in Kanab, Sarah missed living with the love of her life and packed up another UHaul and their two cats, KT and George, to join Dave in Telluride, Colorado; this time with a rescue dog and a three-legged cat in tow. Telluride became Sarah’s home. We will return her to Telluride at her request.

Sarah and Dave lived in Denver for the past 9 years, adding to the animal family, including River, who brings joy with every return of his ball. Sarah built an animal care business, All Entails, so she could spend her days loving dogs and cats. She also dedicated much of her time to the rescue PawsCo. If there is anything everyone knows about Sarah, it’s that animals were the focus of her life and her deepest loves. She was smarter than she knew, more loved than she was told, the best hugger, and the most beautiful, generous person you could meet.

A memorial will be held in Michigan in the spring. Details will be shared widely.
