Susan Darlene Laird

July 21, 1960 - April 12, 2022

Susan Darlene Laird (Davis) put up a tough fight with a rare bone marrow cancer after surviving her battle with breast cancer 2 years prior, and went home to be with her Savior on April 12, 2022.

She is survived by her daughter Chelsea Stickle, her grandchildren Adrian, Elijah, Jovanni, and Kenadie. Her brother Paul Davis, sister Debbie Bateman, and nephew Wesly Bateman

Susan was born in Rome, NY. She grew up all over the U.S., due to her father's career in the military, even travelled to England as well, but her mom Roberta "Bobbie" Davis settled in Colorado Springs, CO when Susan was a teenager. Her love of dogs and animals led her to work as a rescue for Shelties for over a decade, until she discovered a love of Doberman Pinschers, which she loved dearly for their quirky antics, protective instinct, and loving nature. She enjoyed watching soap operas, particularly Days of our Lives.

Susan's thoughtful nature touched countless lives, not just her family, but her coworkers and friends too. She loved to tell jokes, she had ‘em all... 'Dad jokes', 'Bad jokes' and 'Dirty jokes'. Her most fulfilling and enjoyable profession was being a public school bus driver for Widefield school district. Her bus riders loved to see her every day.

Susan was known for her stern but gentle spirit, whether in the friendships that she made, or the strangers she met. Susan loved well and she was well-loved.
