Mary Ann Fuentes

September 16, 1948 ~ August 28, 2022

We are celebrating Mary’s life, accomplishments, and contributions to the community.

She is survived by husband Andrew; son Brian, daughter-in-law Megan Monroe, grandchildren Rona and Rio; daughter Brittany, son-in-law Scott Morrissey, grandchildren AJ and Maya, brother- and sisters-in-law: Manuel J Fuentes, Christine Fuentes, Belia Ruiz, her husband Sam, Arianne Jaramillo and Veronica Fuentes.

Mary was focused from an early age on helping those less fortunate. Growing up, she spent years working alongside her mother at a nursing home where she learned that providing loving care was noble and rewarding work. She attended Cathedral High School in Denver and was accepted to Saint Louis University, where she earned a Bachelors degree in Liberal Arts and Theology. After returning to Denver, she began her career with the Catholic Church at the Archdiocese of Denver, teaching French and Religion at Holy Family High School and supporting the parish priest. After four years of teaching, she returned to school to earn a masters degree in Business Administration from the University of Denver and began raising her family. She became a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and worked for a top CPA firm in Denver before transitioning to combine her financial acumen and passion for end-of-life care at a private nursing home provider. Mary ended her career there, committed to finding ways to improve care for aging patients and helping to change the nursing home culture.

More than anything, Mary taught by example, giving her time and resources to improve the world around her. She provided a powerful example to her husband and children of the importance of serving those in need, gentle honesty, and endless compassion.
She left this world a better place and while she will be missed, her legacy of supporting those in need will continue to inspire all who knew and loved her.
