Geoffrey Rubin Obituary Denver, CO

With deep sadness, we announce the loss of our dear son and brother Geoffrey Louis Rubino. Geoff was born at Magee-Women’s Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on June 27, 1987. When Geoff was seven years old the family moved to Centennial, Colorado in metro Denver. Geoff graduated from Cherry Creek High School and the University of Colorado at Boulder.

Geoff is survived by his parents, Gino and Cindy, his sister Lauren, his grandparents Luisa Rubino, James and Barbara Lenzi, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Geoff was a gentle soul with a big heart. He loved and cared for his family, the young and the old, new friends and old dear friends, and even strangers who needed a hand. He always made sure to connect with the odd person out as he often felt himself.

Geoff had many talents and interests and engaged people in long conversations at any given time. He admitted that this could be annoying, but he sure loved to dig deep into topics that friends and family were interested in. He was a voracious reader, spanning from Harry Potter to Gray’s Anatomy, enjoying and understanding more than most. He excelled in writing, whether it be essays, poetry, or songwriting.

Interested in languages, he explored Italian, Spanish, and Latin. He loved music and played the piano, keyboard, and guitar. He truly loved to sing, and he especially drew meaning in Eminem’s lyrics, felt the melancholy in the minor key of Death Cab for Cutie songs, would find the poignancy in Panic at the Disco, and loved Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah. He skied and snowboarded and loved to both shred and hit the rails and jumps. He often did pencil drawings with the most intricate detail. Simply put, Geoff was incredibly smart and talented.

Geoff and his sister shared the same off-beat sense of humor, often to the befuddlement of others. He could always be found, by his father’s side, helping with landscaping and home improvement projects, car repair, and of course, doing the New York Times crossword puzzle. Geoff could discuss anything with his mother, and they would analyze and dissect a variety of topics - the best conversations arising from books that they would read together. Most of all though, Geoff and his mother shared a love of Taco Bell.

In lieu of flowers please honor Geoff by helping that stranger or that odd person you encounter with dignity and respect. It’s what Geoff would do. Be kind, love big, and sing your heart out. We will have a celebration of life at a later date.
