Dave Miller

December 12, 1943 ~ September 26, 2022

David Allan Miller, born December 12, 1943, was affectionately known as Dave, David, Dad, Grandpa, Papa, and DA-vid (when he was taking 10 too many pictures on every family trip). Born in Ohio to Caryl and Kassel Kenneth Miller, he grew up as a curious child, tinkering with electronics and spending time on the Ham radio with his father. He was a beloved brother, protector, and supporter of his younger sister Pamela Miller. David received his bachelors in Electrical Engineering from The Johns Hopkins University and his Masters of Electrical Engineering from Rutgers - The State University. He proudly spent 42 years of his career working on some of the most cutting edge systems and telecommunications challenges at RCA, turned GE, turned Martin Marietta, turned Lockheed Martin, turned L-3 Communications. He loved to describe his job as one where he could talk about omphaloskepsis and took pride in seeing his work on display at the Aerospace Museum in Washington.

Beyond his engineering career, David was a doting husband to Connie, his wife of 40 years, a fantastic father to Julie (Jonathan), Cathy (Matthew), and Jeffrey, and a loving grandfather to Zoe, Hunter, Joanna, and Jackson. In the 80s and 90s, Dave would be found with his family at the shore, on the slopes, or splashing in their backyard pool that he custom-designed. Connie and Dave spent their retirement years together hiking, skiing, biking, and traveling the world, where he loved to build upon his photography hobby. From the El trains in Chicago to African safaris, from Machu Picchu to the tulips in the Netherlands, Dave captured it all. He could fill a room with laughter in a matter of minutes, and throw back scotch with the best of them. He loved being silly and making the funniest faces.

Dave passed away peacefully on September 26, 2022, surrounded by his family. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Lewy Body Dementia Association or Michael J Fox in Dave’s name.
