John Kirby Hinton III

April 9, 1947 ~ November 13, 2022

John Kirby Hinton III, loving husband and father of four children, passed away on Sunday, November 13, 2022, at the age of 75.
Kirby was born on April 9, 1947 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas to John Kirby, Jr. and Mary Francis (Fenwick) Hinton. After high school, Kirby joined the United States Air Force. He was stationed at Lowry Air Force base and served for 2 years. Kirby made Colorado his home after that.
On May 27, 1978, he married the love of his life, Dianne Pinkston. Together they raised four children, Lisa, Lori, Wendy, and Johnny. Kirby was a gregarious man who loved to play golf and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan, although he never turned down an opportunity to go to a Colorado Rockies game! Kirby also enjoyed learning to play the classical guitar, especially when he could practice outside on his deck. He and Dianne started Hinton Steel in 1978 in the basement of their home. Hinton Steel continues as a business to this day.
Kirby was known for his quick wit, his infectious laugh, and his kind and compassionate spirit. Kirby loved people and would strike up a conversation with anyone.
Kirby is survived by his wife, Dianne; his four children Lisa Malikoff, Lori Malikoff, Wendy Pinkston Hauck, and John Pinkston III; his sisters Elizabeth (Bob) Ham, and Jane (Stan) Archer; grandchildren Haleigh and Hannah Hauck, and Michael, Amanda, and Hannah Pinkston; and several great grandchildren.
