Jim Rogo Obituary Denver, CO

James Walter Rogo was one of the Earth’s most kind, thoughtful, generous, smart, talented and selfless people. He passed away quickly and unexpectedly on June 23, 2023, of sudden cardiac arrest while doing something he loved to do—lying in the grass in the backyard, enjoying the warm sun on his face and watching the clouds float by.

Born October 16, 1951, in Evergreen Park, Illinois, to Walter Rogo and Barbara Celedinas Rogo, he was preceded in death by his parents and his eldest sister, Joan Rogo Tubutis.

Survivors include his sister Carolyn Rogo Versteeg, brother-in-laws Jon Versteeg and Vern Tubutis, niece Susan Tubutis (Lane Weber), nephews Chris Tubutis and Steve Tubutis, and four cousins. He is also survived by his partner, Deena Lawrence; his ex-wife, Suzan Martinek; many dear friends; and three very special people to whom he had the honor of being like a grandpa: Kyle, Xavier and Gracelee.

In 1989, Jim was graduated from Regis University in Denver with a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration. He worked at IMC and then in 1993 proudly founded Remote Processing, which became a corporation in 1994. With the dedicated help of Linda Davis, Pamela Berg and Charlene Hannah, he ran a very successful business until the time of his death.

Many people may not know that in addition to being an excellent electronics engineer, designer of circuit boards, computer programmer, and astute businessman, Jim was also a talented swing dancer, a fan of penstemon flowers, and a connoisseur of Long Island Iced Tea. He loved finding secluded, scenic camping spots far off the beaten path. He was also very fond of the Big Island of Hawai’i, where he and Deena spent much of their time, and had planned to retire there soon.

Jim’s generosity was limitless; he never hesitated to help anyone in need. He volunteered extensively at Prairie UU Church and was dedicated in driving our dear friend Cory to church and out for many adventures. He served as treasurer and board member of the Habitat Interfaith Alliance and helped sponsor and host a Ukrainian family fleeing the current war, among countless other acts of hospitality and kindness.

His generosity went to the end of his life and even beyond. His request to be an organ donor was honored, and his corneas and other tissues will be transplanted to those in need. He will live on in many ways.

All of us who had the privilege of knowing Jim are incredibly fortunate.
