Ann W. Douden

November 2, 1950 - August 27, 2024

Our beloved Ann W. Douden passed away on August 27, 2024.

Annie was so much to so many.

Annie brought joy, creativity, and delight to everything she touched; she coaxed magic from the mundane. Annie was an artist and a skilled high-altitude gardener, and one of the truest reflections of her character was her beautiful garden. Despite the challenges of cultivating life at 9,000 feet, her garden was always a riot of foliage and blossoms, and she brought the same patience, creativity, and desire to create beauty for others to every activity, from preparing a simple meal to ensuring the future of the Grand County Library. Her profound empathy, compassion, and curiosity about others nurtured deep and enduring friendships with people of all ages and backgrounds across the globe.  She made everyone she encountered feel valued and seen, and she brought out the best in us all.  She was a person of the highest integrity and principle and dedicated her extraordinary talents to create a lasting and meaningful impact for the many causes to which she contributed her energy and time.

Since her passing, her family and loved ones have found great comfort and strength in sharing memories about the countless ways that she enriched the many communities to which she contributed her enthusiasm, creativity, and friendship so eagerly and effectively.

In an effort to create a written record that more fully captures the fullness, the significance, and the beauty of the life she led, we would so appreciate if you could share any memories of Annie, reflections on her or your time together, or any of your favorite photos and videos either below or by emailing them to annwdoudenmemories@gmail.com.  We plan to compile these contributions into a document that attempts to do justice to her legacy and will happily share the finished product with anyone interested.

We will miss her every day and hold her in our hearts always.

A celebration of Annie's life will be held from 11:00 AM - 2:30 PM on Sunday, September 22, 2024 at Winter Park Mountain Lodge. To help us plan for everyone who wishes to attend, please RSVP by September 18 at the below link:
