Bob Tinnin

March 11, 1946 - April 9, 2025

Bob Tinnin, 79, was a man who made a lasting impact on everyone who knew him, at every stage of his life. He made the world better because he was in it, giving generously to all and willing to help at a moment’s notice, “no questions asked.” Intelligent, kind, and dedicated, he was also unwavering in his loyalty and someone who worked incredibly hard to build a successful business.

Bob was born in Fredricktown, Missouri, to Bill and LaWanda Tinnin in 1946. As a child, he loved playing baseball, basketball, and football, and mowed lawns to earn money. When he was 14, the family moved to Tooele, Utah, where he met lifelong friends at Tooele High School. After graduation, Bob alternated between attending college, working, and serving in the Army National Guard. He landed on accounting because a professor told him that accountants could always find a job. And he did – he moved to Los Angeles to work for what was then Price Waterhouse.

It was at Price Waterhouse that he met his best friend and the love of his life, Joan. After moving to Colorado in 1977, they married and built a life, having a child, Jennifer, in 1979. Between tax seasons and helping his parents with training racehorses, Bob loved to play golf, socialize with friends, and travel (especially if there was golf, blackjack, or fishing on offer). He was truly the best father, leaving his daughter to feel like the luckiest child in the world.

After being given a diagnosis of stage IV pancreatic cancer in November 2023, Bob went through many rounds of challenging treatment, staying strong throughout and grateful to his care team. In July, he was even able to do one of his favorite activities, fishing at Langara Lodge in Canada. The support of his friends meant so much to him during this time, and it mattered so much that so many cared. Early in the morning of April 9, 2025, Bob passed away, surrounded by his family.

Bob is survived by his wife, Joan; his daughter, Jennifer, and his son-in-law, Vern; his grandchildren, Lilian and Ariana; and his rescue cat, Sophie, all of whom are heartbroken and missing a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.

Bob’s family wishes to thank the staff of the UCHealth at Anschutz Cancer Center, particularly Dr. Robert Lentz and his team, as well as the caregivers of Colorado Hospice & Palliative Care.

Bob had strong opinions about not holding memorial services, and we are honoring his wishes.

Donations

In lieu of flowers, Bob would have loved a donation to the Cat Care Society in Lakewood.
