Sean Garrett Dahlinger

February 2, 1975 - March 31, 2025

It is with a very heavy heart that we announce the passing of our dear friend, brother, uncle, loving partner and Knight, Sean Garrett Dahlinger.

Sean was born into a life of challenges that he always met head on with grace, determination and adaptability. He was a role model to everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Sean lived with a progressive neuromuscular disease, Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type III, that would take its toll on his body over the years. He accepted what life had given him, and always found a way to not only adapt, but to thrive in any situation. He always said how much he loved his life.

In his more able-bodied days, Sean loved being outdoors, camping, Urban Exploration of abandoned and historic buildings, working on his cars or motorcycles and exploring the beauty of Colorado. As his abilities rescinded, he continued to find joy in independent movies, theatre, and exploring old amusement parks, diners and shopping malls. He created new memories and experiences everywhere he went.

Born at St, Joseph’s Hospital in Denver, and a lifelong native of Aurora, Colorado, Sean’s roots ran deep as the Grandson of the late First Chief of Police, Spencer C. Garrett and Helen F. Schall Garrett. A legacy he was extremely proud of.

The Dahlinger side also has deep ties to Barr Lake in Adams County, Colorado, where the family farm house still sits, and Sean cherished the memories he had with his late paternal grandparents, Everette John Dahlinger Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Scherer Dahlinger.

Sean was also honored to hold the title of Fourth Degree Knight with the prestigious Knights of Columbus in Denver, Colorado. There, he served his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and supported his fellow Brother Knights in their respective journeys. He made many lasting relationships and was regarded as a great friend and confidant.

Sean’s health took a steep decline in recent months, and he ultimately faced numerous hospitalizations and greater on-going challenges. He made the brave decision to enter hospice care seeking only to remain comfortable, and took his final breath on Monday, March 31, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones. He had a deep understanding that his time on Earth would be limited, and he spent one last day reminiscing, laughing and just talking with close friends and family. He never stopped worrying about everyone he knew and loved and just wanted to see everyone at peace and to feel his love around them always.

Sean’s legacy and love will go on as he is survived by his longtime loving partner, Wendi Townsend, his sister, Dr. Heather Potter, and his nephews, Garrett and Carson Potter, all of Aurora, Colorado. He is also survived by numerous extended family and friends, too great to count.

In addition to his grandparents, Sean was preceded in death by his father, Everette John (“Jack”) Dahlinger Jr., his mother, Kathleen Gayle (“Kay”) Garrett Dahlinger and his infant nephew, Killian Ray Potter.

Please consider donating to a charity or organization of your choice in Sean’s memory.
