Brad Bawmann

June 25, 1962 - June 12, 2022

Denver humanitarian, entrepreneur, and marketing executive, Brad Bawmann, died at the age of fifty-nine in Denver on June 12, 2022, surrounded by his family and loved ones.

Born to Ronald Bawmann and Janet Griffin on June 25, 1962, in St. Louis, Missouri, Brad’s family moved after two years to Rock Island, Illinois, where he grew up with his two younger siblings, Timothy and Emily.

A graduate of Rock Island High School, Brad earned a degree in communications from Augustana College in 1985. It was there that he met his wife, Wendy. They married on June 7, 1986, and made their way west to make Denver their home.

Brad’s childhood and young adulthood were steeped in success and plenty of risky shenanigans! From sports to academics to social engagement with the world around him, Brad pursued each to its highest apex. Gifted with an exceptional drive, magnetism, and enthusiasm to connect with people and their passions, Brad found work in Denver as a journalist and later became the communications and public affairs executive for the University of Colorado health Sciences Center and later for Columbia HEALTHOne.

Eager to be his own boss, Brad eventually created an integrated marketing firm, which he aptly named The Bawmann Group. In time, TBG became one of the region’s most prominent and award-winning agencies. Brad took pride in serving a wide range of clients whose missions consistently aligned with his own core values of integrity, engagement, and responsibility to the community.

In his personal life, Brad was a tireless board leader, fundraiser, and strategist for numerous nonprofit organizations. He was a consummately generous member of the Denver community. Giving back was a core value which led him to donate more than two million dollars in grants and professional services to a myriad of businesses, schools, and communities. Two months before his death, Brad traveled to Krakow, Poland, and for three weeks lent a hand at the renowned World Central Kitchen feeding Ukrainian refugees.

Surpassing his professional and personal prestige was the profound joy he had raising a family. His two beloved children, Oliver (b. 1993) and Phoebe (b. 1997) live in Denver. Brad is survived by his wife Wendy, his mother Janet, his brother Tim, his sister Emily, and twelve adoring nieces and nephews. Also notable are his three much-loved mentees, Quentin Clemens, Destine Green, and Ernesto Sotelo-Perez.

Brad’s memorial service will be at Montview Boulevard Presbyterian Church on October 7 at 10am.
