Stephanie Lynn Meyer Koza
December 18, 1955 - March 7, 2025
Heaven welcomed Stephanie unconditionally on March 7th. By her side were Hospice Chaplain Jeff, Nurse Alex, and her friend Ruth. In her journey, you could visibly see a woman pain free, a body unbound by HSP, an inherited disease with no known cure.
Misdiagnosed as a child and teen, doctors told her parents she was born with Cerebral Palsy and due to her gait, she was placed in special education programs with no challenge for her artistic and high intellectual nature. HSP did not define her, and with the care of her maternal Grandmother Stephanie was nurtured, unconditionally loved, and received positive affirmation like only a grandmother can provide.
With a strong sense of self Stephanie married, raised two children and a grandson. Late in life she became a scholar. First, at Red Rocks Community College and then at Regis University. Upon graduation, Stephanie secured a position at Edward Jones in Golden and assisted in opening a brand-new office. Stephanie was able to continue her love of music, visual arts, sports; downhill and water skiing, scuba diving, skeet, target practice at the range, and compassionate care of those broken souls around her.
I (Ruth) met Stephanie in 2014 when I was assisting as a caregiver for my mother at Windsor Gardens. We recognized the brokenness in each other. In 2016, Stephanie bought a larger unit next to my fathers. Fast friends, our bond was sealed in scripture like Ruth and Naomi (Ruth 1, 16-17). I, too, had a grandmother who gave me unconditional love, affirmation, and a sense of self. Stephanie's capacity to love is apparent in how she had a lay ministry for others. To me, Stephanie's natural caretaking was always taken back to scripture as was her major in university. A queen like no other. In fact, the name Stephanie comes from the Greek word meaning crown. Rock on Queen Koza!
To her friends and family grieving her loss I leave you the promise of reuniting as it is written.
Stephanie leaves behind a biological sister, daughter, son, and three grandsons.
